A study on the application of Sanghanron prescription by Odang
Jeong Chang-Hyun

Jang Woo-Chang
Abstract
In this study, we investigated how prescriptions from "Sanghallon(ß¿ùÎÖå)", such as Oryeongsan(çéֽߤ), Banhasasimtang(Úâù¾Þáãý÷·), Dohaekseunggitang(Óþú·ã¯Ñ¨÷·), Jukyeopseokgotang(ñÓç¨à´ÍÇ÷·), were applicated in Onbyeongjobyeon(è®Ü»ðÉ÷ý). When applying prescriptions from "Sanghallon" onto Onbyeong(è®Ü»), Odang had replaced warm, dry herbs with cool herbs which generate body fluid, considering general characteristics of onbyeong that may easily dry up and injure body fluid. In the case of Seuponbyeong(ã¥è®Ü»), however, warm, dry herbs were also used, as well. Odang did not persist in the general characteristic of onbyeong, but composed prescriptions only based on pathological condition. From this, one can point out his precise thinking of Byeonjeung(ܪñû), and pragmatic nature of his study.
